UPSC Recruitment 2014 - Geologist & Geo-Scientist Examination 2014
Union Public Service Commission will hold a competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts ofGeologist, Geophysicist , Chemist and Junior Hydrogeologist . UPSC will fill up the 265 vacancies on the basis of marks obtained in competitive Examination. Interested Candidates may apply onlinefrom 01st March, 2014 to 31st March, 2014 . The educational qualification, age limit, application fee and steps to apply online etc details are provided below.

Category I : Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines
1. Geologist: 260 Posts
(i) Geologist Group A: 100 Posts
(ii) Geophysicist Group A: 80 Posts
(iii) Chemist Group A: 80 Posts
Category II : Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources
2. Geo-Scientist: 05 Posts
(i) Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) Group A: 05 Posts
Eligibility Criteria :
Age Limit :
1 For Geologist Post : Min age is 21 years and Max age is 32 years as on 01-08-2014 (born between 02-08-1982 to 01-08-1993).
2. For Geo-Scientist post : Min age is 21 years and Max age is 35 years (born between 02-08-1979 to 01-08-1993).
Educational Qualification :
1. For Geologist Post : Masters Degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology etc in relevant discipline from a recognized university.
2. For Geophysicist Posts : M.Sc in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc (Geophysics) etc in relevant discipline form a University.
3. For Chemist Posts : M.Sc in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from an University.
4. For Junior Hydro-geologist Posts : Masters Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from university.
Selection process : Selection will be based on written test, Interview /personality test.
Application Fee :
1. General/OBC candidates are required to pay Rs. 200/-.
2. Women/ SC/ ST/ PH candidates are not required to pay any fees.
Note : Fees is to be paid either through depositing money in any branch of SBI by cash or Net Banking of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ Mysore/ Patiala/ Travancore or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card.
